HardieSmart™ Boundary Wall System Component Description

External Face of Wall

  • 1 layer of James Hardie minimum 6mm external cladding
  • James Hardie HardieWrap™ weather barrier (refer to technical data sheet for suitability)

Internal Face of Wall

  • 1 layer of minimum 6mm James Hardie® internal lining (if using Architectural™ linings, Villaboard® lining must be fixed behind.

Wall Frame

  • 90x45mm seasoned timber studs
  • 90x35mm seasoned timber studs can be used with a reduced maximum load capacity of 3.4kN/stud for load bearing walls when used at 600mm centres

Insulation

  • James Hardie HardieFire™ Insulation

NOTE: Where a fire and water resistant plasterboard is specified only Boral or Lafarge must be used.

External Face of Wall

  • 1 Layer of James Hardie minimum 6mm thickness external cladding
  • James Hardie HardieWrap™ weather barrier (refer to HardieWrap™ Technical Data Sheet for suitability).
  • 16mm fire and water resistant plasterboard lining

Internal Face of Wall

  • 1 Layer of standard 10mm plasterboard lining

Wall Frame

  • Minimum 90x45mm seasoned timber studs up to 2.7m high.
  • Minimum 92x35x1.15 steel studs with 1.350mm horizontal noggings up to 3m high.

Thicker studs are needed:

  • For higher walls, refer to the fire and acoustically rated design manuals.
  • At sheet joins, refer to the relevant product manual for clarity.
